Question 1: What score did you receive and why?
I scored three out of four on the SLII Questionnaire. The question I missed was Question #1, where I chose “Assign the task and give support and encouragement” instead of the correct response, Delegating. My natural inclination is to provide support and encouragement, even for competent team members, because I believe it builds confidence, trust, and connection. To me, being present and available strengthens the team dynamic, which I value deeply.

Question 2: What did you learn about yourself because of taking this survey?
This survey confirmed that my leadership style aligns with S3: Supporting. I naturally lean toward coaching, collaboration, and creating a positive environment where team members feel valued and involved. I prefer to ask for input and engage others in solutions, which helps build ownership and connection to the task. However, I also realized that I sometimes need to step into S1: Directing, especially when team members are new or need more structure and clarity to succeed.

Question 3: What modifications or enhancements will you make to be a better team leader?
To improve as a leader, I will focus on balancing my supportive nature with other leadership styles, particularly Directing (S1) and Delegating (S4). For newer team members, I will be more intentional about providing clear, step-by-step direction to ensure they feel confident and grounded as they learn. At the same time, I’ll look for opportunities to delegate tasks fully to experienced team members, empowering their independence while maintaining progress and efficiency.

Additionally, I will stay more mindful of when to flex between styles—recognizing that each team member’s competence and confidence level requires a different approach. Balancing direction, delegation, and support will help me meet their needs more effectively while fostering their growth.

Conclusions
This survey reaffirmed that S3: Supporting is my natural style, and I consider it a strength. I thrive in environments where collaboration, coaching, and trust-building are key. However, to lead effectively, I must adapt my style—providing clearer direction when needed and fully delegating when appropriate. By balancing these approaches, I can empower my team, encourage their growth, and drive results in a way that feels authentic and effective.
