What specific qualities and skills are essential for becoming a great leader?
To become a great leader, you must have a clear vision, be creative with your strategy for others to follow. You must be adaptable to change, decisive in your judgement, have self-awareness about yourself and respect for others. It requires strong communication skills, and the ability to delegate tasks. You must be honest and have integrity when dealing with others. You must show empathy and have respect for everyone. I believe you must have the willpower to overcome the daily challenges you will face. The leadership skills are:
Intelligence - strong verbal, perceptual, and reasoning abilities appears to make a better leader.
Self-Confidence - Self-Confidence allows leaders to feel assured that their attempts to influence others are appropriate and right.
Determination - People with determination are willing to assert themselves, are proactive, and have the capacity to persevere in the face of obstacles.
Integrity - People who adhere to a strong set of principles and take responsibility for their actions.
Sociability - a leader’s inclination to seek out pleasant and social relationships. Leaders who are sociable are friendly, outgoing, courteous, tactful, and diplomatic.
The skills for becoming a great leader are as follows:
Technical Skills - Knowledge about and proficiency about the work or product.
Human Skills - people skills- the ability to work with people.
Conceptual Skills - Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and concepts. A leader with conceptual skills is comfortable talking about the ideas that shape an organization, and the intricacies involved.
How can I develop and demonstrate these qualities and skills within my current role?
Jamie can coach or mentor her team members to learn and grow within the company.
Jamie can attend professional events that encourage personal growth and development in her industry.
Jamie can be more proactive in learning more about opportunities in leadership within the company.
Be creative in problem solving within the company.
Network with people inside the company to learn about different areas of the company and how other managers have developed their skills and run their departments.
Communicate and show emotional intelligence and self-awareness with your team, others, and suppliers within the company.
What steps can I take to prepare myself for future leadership opportunities with the company?
Jamie can seek out new projects or roles within the company. She can discuss her goals and objectives with her manager for leadership growth with the company. Seek internal training programs for development within the company. She can ask for feedback on her upper-level management for improvement and potential growth opportunities.
