Followership Questionnaire - Ryniak
After taking the Followership Questionnaire, I discovered that my followership style is Exemplary, with a score of 43 on independent thinking and 51 on active engagement. This means I tend to be both actively involved and thoughtful about the decisions and actions I take within a team. I’ve always tried to contribute meaningfully, whether by supporting team goals or asking questions to ensure we’re on the right track. It’s reassuring to see these habits reflected in the results, but it also highlighted areas where I can continue to grow.
One thing I want to focus on is creating more space for others to share their thoughts and ideas. While I feel comfortable participating and offering input, I realize the value in helping others do the same. I also want to be more intentional about encouraging collaboration and supporting my teammates in finding their own voice and confidence. These are small but important steps that I believe can make a big difference in how I contribute to and support the team as a whole.
Hi Keith,
I've noticed a great trend in your responses in the TalkBoards. Most of them are focused on the work you can do to make sure others have a seat at the table and are comfortable speaking their minds. I think this is such an important element of being leader and will help you build successful teams. Kudos for making it the keystone in your leadership development plan. What are some things that you are doing to be intentional about encouraging collaboration and supporting teammates? I'd like to implement some strategies with my team as well.
Keith, congratulations on being an exemplary follower! I would echo Rob's feedback that you have this collaborative spirit about you. Your comments about how you want to encourage others to be exemplary followers are tremendous. After all, we encourage others to become great leaders, so why not great followers? Especially since the one comes before the other. Your reflection reminded me of the rowing case study. They focus on the team follower, who is a first among equals and inspires symmetry, synergy, and synchronicity. And from the ranks of the exemplary team followers comes the leader. I know your team members will be set up for success because of the small yet mighty investment you are making in them.
Tracey
Keith, I would be interested in how you would like to create more space for others to share their thoughts and ideas. Please elaborate. Thanks.
