Week 6 - Ryniak
Leadership is a constant journey of self-awareness and growth. My scores came out as follows:
- Technical Skills: 20 – I have a solid foundation in execution but recognize that details and processes aren’t always my primary focus.
- Human Skills: 22 – Building relationships and fostering collaboration come naturally, though there’s always room to strengthen communication and connection.
- Conceptual Skills: 27 – Seeing the bigger picture, developing strategies, and thinking long-term are where I thrive.
This assessment reinforced what I already knew about my leadership style—I'm a big-picture thinker who focuses on vision and strategy. However, it also highlighted areas where I can improve. To be a more adaptable leader, I need to focus more on execution and operational details, ensuring that vision translates into action. Additionally, while I prioritize collaboration, I can be more intentional in mentoring and developing others.
Leadership is about balance, and this was a great reminder to refine my approach. The best leaders adapt, evolve, and lean into their strengths while actively working on their weaknesses. This assessment was a valuable tool in that ongoing process.
Hi Keith,
Great reflection on your scores, however, I wouldn't be too hard on yourself as it relates to the technical aspects of your work. If the textbook is to be believed, as a manager in the Top Management role, your emphasis should be more in the Human and Conceptual realms. That means trusting and relying on your team to understand the technical aspects of the job, which will likely boost your Human score too. Let the journey continue!
